Black’s of Greenock tents have been synonymous with Scout and Guide group camping for generations. The sturdy tents have enabled thousands of youngsters to enjoy the enriching experience of sleeping under canvas and exploring the great outdoors.
Founded in 1861 on the banks of the River Clyde, Black’s built an undisputed reputation for using quality materials and making durable products that last; values that continue to this day.
A former sailor, Thomas Black crafted sails; cutting and stitching large pieces of fabric to make hardy sails that would withstand continued use in the toughest sea conditions.
This expertise, working with fabric that would be exposed to the worst weather, gave Black’s of Greenock the optimum skills required to make durable canvas tents and shelters.
Black’s of Greenock tents continue to be designed and assembled in Glasgow, and the head office is still on the River Clyde in Port Glasgow.
